Submissions to Whispers and Echoes are now closed

The 2025 submission window for both general submissions and submissions written in response to our latest photo prompt are now closed. We have responded to all the emails in our inbox, but if you have yet to receive a response, please do get in touch.

Thank you to everyone who submitted work to us since we re-opened to submissions in June. We will reopen to submissions again in 2026.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Whispers and Echoes throughout October. Whether you are sharing the words or reading them, it is is deeply appreciated.

Also thank you for the sudden influx of submissions towards the end of the month, both for responses to the photo prompt and general submissions. We now only have a couple of scheduling slots left in November, before we begin scheduling for December. As the photo response closes on the 15th November 2025, I’m thinking that we might close to all submissions for the rest of the year on this date too. The reason is that during the journal’s winter break, I am planning on giving the site a new look…So, if you want to see your work shared on the Whispers and Echoes website this year, please bear that in mind. Call for submissions…Photo Prompt – Bridge

Whispers and Echoes is currently open to submissions of short poetry and flash fiction inspired by the following photo:

Submission Guidelines:

  • Only poetry and flash fiction inspired by the photo prompt above will be accepted for this call.
  • Our usual submission guidelines apply: flash fiction in 100 words or under and poetry in 10 lines or less.  The full guidelines can be found here. Please read them before submitting.
  • For this call, please submit a maximum of two poems, pieces of flash fiction, or a combination of the two.
  • Please state the following in the subject line: Photo Prompt Bridge– Your Name
  • Submissions open: 25 October 2025
  • Submissions close: 15 November 2025
  • Accepted submissions will be posted on the site from the end of October and into November.
  • Please send your submissions to: deardreamingspirit@gmail.com
