Leaf | Goutam Dutta

An autumn morn-

In search of companionship

A dewdrop and leaf

Autumn | Goutam Dutta

Spring and summer,

Youthful and full of cheer,

Had hitherto woven a tapestry of dreams.

.

Winter’s roughness,

Now it has made an appearance.

It’s harsh, sting laced winds,

Sucking me to dryness.

.

Soon it will be time

For me to wither,

Adding another shade to autumn’s colours.

Winter evening | Goutam Dutta

An early sunset…

Curled in front of a lit fire

Beggar and stray dog.

Winter in the city of Kolkata | Goutam Dutta

The knotted tie peeping

through the buttoned jacket front.

Muffler clad figures old and young,

Inhaling the polluted air,

stand under the timorous sun.

Winter in the city of Kolkata

Heralds a merry time for the folks.

Buoyed by the Yuletide spirit,

The hawker at the traffic signal

Tries selling red Santa caps to the cars’ passengers.
