Against the Storm [Triolet] | Julie A. Dickson

Shuttered windows against the storm

Birds huddled high up in the trees

Sit by the firelight that’s warm

Shuttered windows against the storm

.

For sunbathed afternoons I mourn

Comforter wrapped around my knees

Shuttered windows against the storm

Birds huddled high up in the trees

Ceaseless Chatter | Julie A. Dickson

Pedantic patter and ceaseless chatter

plethora of propensity

Egotistic echoes seek the shadows

hides morose mediocrity

.

Within shrouded silence all is shattered

Notice all is there that really matters

Quiet calm, unusually unencumbered

without all the useless blather

.

meaningless messages no longer heard

I cannot hear a single word

Moss Memories | Julie A. Dickson

Cold metal, curved back

wooden bench with damp growth,

green lichen covers the seat

where couples sat holding hands,

children stood and jumped off

.

Moss takes residence now

moss memories cover the bench

where derelicts, society’s detritus

once slept, in lieu of a bed
