For most of September 2021, Whispers and Echoes was on its annual posting break, but it returned for the final week of the month to begin sharing the submissions we received for the Butterfly Photo Prompt.

Thank you to all who submitted to our Autumn 2021 submissions call. The submissions window has now closed and all submissions will be responded to within the week. If you haven’t received an email from us by 5th October 2021, please do get in touch.

Throughout August Whispers and Echoes shared poetry and flash fiction on the theme of summer. Thank you to everyone who sent in their writing as well as to those who have been reading.
The journal will be going on a short break between the 6th and the 27th, as September sees Whispers and Echoes take a short break each year. While we’re away submissions to our Autumn 2021 call will still be open (you can find the guidelines for it here), but please note, responses will not go out until we return. The page for this particular call has been updated to show this.
From the 27th September we will begin sharing responses to our recent photo prompt submissions call. We were pleasantly surprised by the volume of submissions we received for this one. So, thank you to all those who joined in.
We’re still closed to general submissions at the moment as our planned posting schedule is full, but we’re hoping to change that soon.

Throughout July Whispers and Echoes shared the remainder of the wonderful submissions we received for our themed call, Haiku on Healing. Thank you to everyone who sent in their poetry as well as to those who have been reading.
During August we will be sharing the submissions we received for our Summer 2021 call. The beginning of September each year sees the journal taking a two week break, but afterwards, we will be turning our attention to our next call, Autumn 2021. We will be opening this call to submissions in the next few days, so please keep an eye out! 😉 However, if you can’t wait, we can share that our general guidelines will apply. Whispers and Echoes returned from a short break midway through the month, and until the last day our submissions window was open, submissions for the Haiku on Healing call flooded in. We are so very thankful for the poets, writers and readers who support this little journal.
It’s clear that our annual haiku themed call is our most popular, and our July schedule is full to bursting with Haiku on Healing.
Looking a little further ahead, August will see us share submissions for our next call: Summer 2021, which will be opening very soon, and for which our general guidelines will apply. You can check them out by visiting the SUBMIT page.

March was a great month for Whispers and Echoes as we got to share so many wonderful poems and pieces of flash fiction by a talented group of poets and writers, some new to Whispers and Echoes, others familiar to regular readers. Thank you, as always, for submitting, reading, commenting, liking, sharing and supporting this little online journal of short writing.
As of April 2021, Whispers and Echoes is going on a short break, but keep an eye out for news of when we will be opening to submissions again.
