Those of you who have been with us since before the change over to the new format will remember we used to put together Summer and Winter anthologies of poetry and flash fiction. (If you’re interested, these are free to read and can be found here). Although we don’t feel a return to the anthologies is possible at this time, we have decided to introduce special calls for submissions dedicated to the seasons for Whispers and Echoes.  Hence the “Out of The Ordinary” in the title above because the journal usually has no set theme.

Out of The Ordinary: Winter – Submission Guidelines

• Theme: Winter – You can run with this any way you choose.  A few ideas might include but is not limited to: snow, frost, ice, Winter Solstice, transition between seasons, cosiness, winter-themed ghost stories, seasonal specific fairy tales, folklore, myths and legends, flash fiction and poetry set in winter…
• Our usual submission guidelines apply – flash fiction in 100 words or less; poetry in 10 lines or under; the full guidelines can be found here.  Please read them all before submitting.
• Please state the following in the subject line: Winter Submission – Your Name
• Submissions open: 23 November 2019
• Closing date for submissions: SUBMISSIONS NOW CLOSED
• Accepted submissions will be posted on this site throughout December 2019
