Winter in the city of Kolkata | Goutam Dutta

The knotted tie peeping

through the buttoned jacket front.

Muffler clad figures old and young,

Inhaling the polluted air,

stand under the timorous sun.

Winter in the city of Kolkata

Heralds a merry time for the folks.

Buoyed by the Yuletide spirit,

The hawker at the traffic signal

Tries selling red Santa caps to the cars’ passengers.

Goutam is passionate about poetry and writes whenever and wherever something or someone touches his heart. He lives in Kolkata, India and writes poetry in English, Hindi and Bengali language. He has published two books on English poetry named “Hues of Life” and “Glimpses of life”.
